A Bit of Reminiscing…
I have to admit — these pancakes have a bit of nostalgia baked in for me, too. Back when I used to watch Zoe Sugg (aka Zoella) religiously, especially during her cozy Vlogmas episodes from 2012 to 2015, Nutella pancakes like these became a total go-to. She often made American-style pancakes, and her love for Nutella definitely rubbed off on me. I used to whip up my own version while binge-watching her festive videos, and to this day, this recipe still gives me all those cozy, feel-good vibes. It’s like a little throwback every time I make them. Zoe and Alfie showed up on our youtube front page the other day, and it inspired me to make these for Thomas, he loved them– so I wanted to share them with all of you!

🛒 Ingredients You’ll Need
Sure, you could use a boxed pancake mix (and hey, we love a shortcut sometimes too!). But honestly, these homemade Nutella pancakes are still super budget-friendly — and the little bit of extra effort makes a huge difference. The ingredients are simple, and you probably already have most of them on hand. Trust us, once you taste that fluffy, Nutella-infused batter, you’ll never look back.
For the pancakes:
- 6 large free-range eggs (separated)
- 230g plain flour
- 2 heaping teaspoons baking powder
- 280ml milk (your fave — dairy or non-dairy both work)
- 2 pinches salt
- ½ cup Nutella (plus extra for drizzling)
For topping:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- Icing sugar, for dusting
- Extra Nutella (gently warmed for drizzling)

🍳 How to Make Fluffy Nutella Pancakes
Step 1 — Whip the Egg Whites
Separate your eggs. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form — this is your key to extra fluffy pancakes.
Step 2 — Mix the Batter
In another bowl, mix your egg yolks with flour, baking powder, and milk until smooth.
Melt the Nutella slightly until pourable and stir it into your batter. This is what makes these pancakes extra special!
Step 3 — Fold In the Egg Whites
Carefully fold in the whipped egg whites using a spatula. This helps keep your pancakes airy and tender. Make sure to fully incorporate the egg whites, but try not to over mix here.
Step 4 — Cook the Pancakes
Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Pour in your batter and cook until bubbles appear, then flip and cook until golden brown on both sides.
Step 5 — Dress It Up
Stack the pancakes high, dust with icing sugar, add sliced strawberries, and drizzle warm Nutella all over.
Grab a fork — they’re ready!

🧐 FAQ — Your Pancake Questions Answered
Can I prep the batter ahead of time?
Yes — but for fluffiest results, fold in the egg whites just before cooking.
What other toppings could I use?
Bananas, toasted hazelnuts, or even whipped cream all make excellent additions.
Can these be made dairy-free?
Kind of! While you can easily swap out the milk in the batter for almond, oat, or soy milk, Nutella contains milk powder, so this recipe is not fully dairy-free unless you use a specialty dairy-free chocolate hazelnut spread.
There are some available now (though we haven’t seen them in stores locally yet!). If you’re avoiding dairy altogether, swap in one of those alternatives and you’re good to go.

🍓✨ Fluffy Nutella Pancakes with Strawberries & Icing Sugar — Easy, Addictive, and Great for Hosting
Course: breakfast, SWEET, The Recipes4-6
servings10
minutes15
minutesIngredients
- For The Pancakes
6 large free-range eggs (separated)
230g plain flour
2 heaping teaspoons baking powder
280ml milk (your fave — dairy or non-dairy both work)
2 pinches salt
½ cup Nutella (plus extra for drizzling)
- For topping
1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
Icing sugar, for dusting
Extra Nutella (gently warmed for drizzling)
Directions
- Step 1: Whip the Egg Whites
Start by separating your eggs. Place the egg whites into one clean bowl and the yolks into another. Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and beat with an electric mixer (or by hand, if you’re feeling ambitious) until stiff peaks form. This means when you lift the whisk, the peaks stand tall and don’t droop. Set aside.
Tip: Make sure your bowl is completely clean and dry. Even a speck of yolk or grease can prevent your whites from whipping up properly.
- In the bowl with your egg yolks, add the flour, baking powder, and milk. Whisk until smooth—don’t worry if it looks a little thick. Warm your Nutella just slightly until it’s pourable (microwaving it for 10–15 seconds works great), then stir it into the batter until fully incorporated.
- Step 3: Fold in the Egg Whites
Using a spatula, carefully fold the whipped egg whites into the Biscoff batter. Go slowly and gently—you want to keep as much air in the mixture as possible. Don’t overmix; a few streaks of white are totally fine.
- Step 4: Cook Your Pancakes
Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat. If your pan is truly non-stick, you may not need oil or butter—but if you’re unsure, swipe it with a little neutral oil to be safe.
Ladle or spoon the batter into the pan, about ¼ cup at a time. Let it cook for 2–3 minutes, until small bubbles appear on the surface. Then flip carefully and cook the other side until golden brown and cooked through.
Repeat with the remaining batter.
- Step 5 — Dress It Up
Stack the pancakes high, dust with icing sugar, add sliced strawberries, and drizzle warm Nutella all over.
Grab a fork — they’re ready!

Hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day!
Great recipe! I never made pancakes this way before. They turned out great. Fluffy and delicious!
You had me at nutella! 😉
It’s basically cheating XD I’ve been trying out a lot of other brands in the last couple years though since the recipe nowadays isn’t really the same product I remember from childhood. There are a couple cheap grocery store brands that have really surprised me
